Reasons Why I might not raise my kids in Nigeria – Falz
Popular Nigerian rapper and social activist, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has revealed that he is uncertain about raising his future children in Nigeria.
During a recent appearance on the Dear Ife Series Podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, the rapper was asked whether he would consider raising his children in Nigeria if he were to have any.
Caught slightly off guard by the question, Falz responded candidly. “Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect to here this question. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie.
He explained that while he is strongly pro-Nigerian, the country’s ongoing issues — including insecurity, economic instability, and the potential dangers tied to his activism — make it difficult to commit fully to raising children in Nigeria.
“But it’s something that I can’t actually said ‘yes’ to because of what we are talking about [the insecurity in the country, threats due to my activism, and Nigerians’ docility].
Falz, who has been vocal about political accountability and social justice, emphasized that his activism has sometimes put him at risk, adding another layer to his hesitation.
The rapper, who is currently single and does not have any children, has remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s socio-political space, often using his platform to speak against injustice and poor governance.
